Communication from Lord Willy Bach - Survey on increase in council tax to provide extra funding towards policing.

As you are no doubt aware last year, on 19 December, Policing Minister Nick Hurd announced that he was giving Police and Crime Commissioners authority to increase the amount of money paid towards policing by local tax-payers through their council tax bill by £1 a month (for those living in a Band D property).

In response I launched a survey to find out what local people feel about this rise, which is so vital for community safety in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.   The closing date is noon 18 January 2018, thereby enabling me to take the responses into account during my budget planning and prepare my paper to the Police & Crime Panel which needs to be submitted by 22nd January 2018.

Naturally, I am keen to have as many responses as possible and I would be immensely grateful if you could complete the very short survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7J36TD3 and also forward this email on to your colleagues, family and friends urging them to do the same.

Many thanks for your help.

Willy Bach
