Charnwood Police ran a short speeding operation on Station Road in Cropston at lunchtime on 2nd October 2018. 88 vehicles went through site, 82 below 35mph, 3 given verbal warnings & 3 travelling above 40 issued with tickets, highest speed 45mph.
Unfortunately some roads do not have a suitable place to safely run a speeding operation with a hand held speed gun. The Police need a location where they can pull miscreant motorists over, ideally into a side road or lay-by, or at least at a position where there is sufficient visibility. The layout of some roads such as Cropston Road gives limited visibility so that if a car is pulled over, it becomes a hazard to other motorists.
